About
“My interest in fine jewelry started at a young age when I could not wear earrings because I was allergic to all metals except gold. My parents bought me a watch and I couldn’t even wear it because the buckle was metal. My mother loved jewelry and especially diamonds. She had a friend in Pittsburgh where she would shop for fine jewelry. As I matured I also developed a love for jewelry and continued to shop with that same person. After a buying trip to Pittsburgh, I received many compliments on my jewelry, which I then would reply; the next time I go shopping for jewelry I will bring back what ever you are interested in. So basically I began to take orders.
I soon realized jewelry made people happy and knowing I was able to please someone gave me GREAT PLEASURE. I thought if I could somehow do this for everyone, it could be a wonderful career. My dream came true!”
In the early years, Joyce Katzeff traveled all around the area selling fine jewelry to family and friends for many years until her business grew large enough to open a jewelry store in her home. When Joyce opened her showroom in 1983, she had two thoughts in mind: always provide the customer with high quality jewelry at the best prices and make the experience the most comfortable and relaxing of any retail shopping!
The first customers to step into Joyce’s Jewelry remember the coffee was always on and everyone had a story to tell. As the word spread and Joyce’s relationships continued to grow, it was time to expand. In 1989 with the help of her husband David, Joyce’s opened an 1800 sq ft fine jewelry store. As Joyce’s Fine Jewelry developed, David put his wholesale jewelry company aside and joined Joyce full-time. David and Joyce along, with a great staff, have grown Joyce’s into the premier jewelry store in Southwestern Pennsylvania, while always keeping fine jewelry and customer service their main priority!
Joyce and David’s only child Brandon joined the team after graduating in 2007 from Marshall University with a degree in finance. Brandon attended the Gemological Institute of America where he completed the Graduate Gemologist and the Accredited Jewelry Professional programs. In 2008, Brandon spent two months in India, Dubai, and Switzerland studying jewelry design and manufacturing.
Today, Brandon is back in Uniontown working with both of the people he’s always admired, his parents as the family diligently works towards Joyce’s latest move to the Storey Square Shops of Downtown Uniontown. With over thirty years experience spanning two generations, Joyce’s continues to stay at the forefront of the jewelry industry while keeping their customers first.
